The video about the Ramses square renovations is spreading like fire on Facebook!

In case you don’t know about it or you’re too lazy to watch the video, it’s about bids for a project to renovate the Ramses square area and convert it from hell to heaven.

The project involves building more humane public transport facilities, garages and roads on the current infrastructure to facilitate the flow. A large green area and park and big scale renovations to the historic train station.

I am amazed that project actually have the environment in mind! Which is something that is always neglected in Egypt. The whole thing is actually amazing when you see it on video.

But again, let me remind you that we are Egyptians we cannot live beauty and greenery around us; also anything that is clean, organized or public will be ruined or destroyed in a few month/years (depending on it’s size and number of people using it – visit Azhar park to see what i mean)

Before anyone accuse me of being pessimistic w keda, i have one sentence for you: “The new Cairo tower lighting is pink and violet.” icon smile Ramses again

Another brilliant thing is that the Ramses statue will be brought back to the square!!! After paying 6,000,000 EGP to transport it to it’s new location in the new Egyptian museum! a typical result of Egyptian planning.

Seeing how our public transport network sucks and how bad our trains and train stations are, i was surprised to learn that the guy behind the HauptBahnHof in Berlin is Egyptian!!! I was fascinated when i used that station in Berlin by how big, beautiful, organized and technologically advanced it is! But i said to myself that Germans have always had the best engineers in the world.

But to discover that Hani Azer who is an Egyptian engineer was chief construction engineer for that project is a real shock to me, the man fled to Germany like all the other egyptian talents who flee abroad (Ahmed Zoweil, Magdy Yacoub, Farouk El Baz, Taher El Gamal, Abu Bakr Bayoumi and others)

I don’t think this project will be realized and even if it does, i give it less than a year to be converted into an ugly monster.
