Remember the old science fiction movies; where they had a machine or a computer that knows the answer to everything? or the Oracle in the Matrix? imagine something that can answer all your questions… but why imagine? its already there

Well, not 100% there, its still under heavy development, but the results so far are AMAZING!

As of now, Wolfram|Alpha contains 10+ trillion of pieces of data, 50,000+ types of algorithms and models, and linguistic capabilities for 1000+ domains.

Check its capabilities:

This is just a very small sample of what WolfRamAlpha can do please bare in mind that the site was only launched for the public this month so i expect a fierce competition for google during the next couple of years….unless off course they managed to acquire it (or maybe microsoft or yahoo? who knows)

In case you haven’t noticed, wolfram is not a search engine, its a knowledge engine, which means its not like google crawls the web and search for certain data, WolfRam crawls its own knowledge base (which is obtained through different many sources not only from the web) also, unlike google, wolfram searches only for facts.

I understand that it currently might not be able to answer all the questions, but the quality they currently provide for a start makes it looks very promising in the near future.

They also state that they are implementing an API system for the knowledge engine, which will allow the use of it on different platforms Imagine yourself in the supermarket, you take a photo of an item or type its name and you get all the reviews about it and even know where to find it at more competetive prices

Can you imagine the power of something that can answer all your questions? Too much power, eh?

It’s amazing the amount of information you can get about someone, just from his name or his email using the internet.

I was trying to see what kind of information i can get about someone from either their name or email address.
So i chose a random email address and a random name (i don’t know the persons before) and started my search.

For the email here’s what i did: (the email was associated with a VERY generic nickname, search results would be massive)

- Analyze the address – it shows that it’s an account for a student as the domain is a .edu
- Google the email address -  no results
- Using the university search engine on their website search for the user name – results found
- The  result included a file which lists the major, year of graduation, full name and picture.
- Using Facebook – a search with the name returned a few results
- Examining the results (through friends, and finding that only one has many friends joined in the network of the university, as the person i was looking for was not joined in that network)
- Through the Facebook profile i was able to find some personal information like the age, more pictures, friends, personal nick from what people call him\her from the wall posts and many other things

For the name here’s what i did: (the name was associated with a fake email, so results with the mail did not return anything)

- Google the name with double quotes “” – the name was posted on several bulletin boards, most topics were on Arabic poems (الشعر العربى) looking through the BB profile showed the second name (i already had the last name)
- Using the last part (father + last name) of his\her name on 140online.com i was able to find the address and phone number
- Using the name on Facebook – one result returned, but profile was accessible to friends only, but the thumbnail picture was still viewable and list of friends was readable too.

To sum things up, using just a name or email address and an internet connection, one can get:

1. Full name
2. Picture
3. Phone Number
4. Address
5. Nick, age and other personal information
6. Interests
7. College – graduation date – major

Off course that’s not all, please note that i only got this information in less than 30 mins, i could have invested more time.

Watch out what information you put online, and where you put it it’s a VERY small world

Gmail is my favorite email, its clean, its easy, and the spam filter is just amazing!!!Its accuracy made me think someday that they might have real persons filtering mail manually!

Every time you log into gmail, you have that space counter telling you your space now is > 4GB and counting….it never stops!! are google invading the world of HD or something?do they have an army conquering all the hard disks and storage areas in the world and converting them to gmail?

WHERE THE HELL DO THEY GET ALL THIS SPACE!?!?

My first hardrive was 80Mb…that was 15 years ago….now my email storage is more than 4000MB now more than 5200MB 6155MB(30/12/2007)!!!

Also, dont you ever think to yourself, why is google is doing this for free?they have all these amazing services (search,webhistory,gmail,video,blogs,news,IG,suggest search,more,more,more) do you really think they make all this money from the stupid advertising?COME ON,, you never even clicked on one of these ads!!!

It cant be, I am sure (and i have proof for that) that Google are getting a fund from the Aliens and are planning to invade our minds and soul so they can takeover the world, and use our brains as storage for their AlienMail service.
