Charafantah's Cave

If anything can go wrong, it will, at the most inopportune time.

I just noticed that on Facebook, if someone has blocked you, you will no longer be able to see their comments on photos.

However if you go to album and choose “View Photo Comments” you will be able to see it :)

not extremely useful, but helps identifying who blocked you and also helps reading blocked comments ;)

PS: you should consider ANYTHING you put on facebook as public property that anyone could see.

When i heard about it and saw the pictures i was really disturbed and i couldn’t sleep. This is really sick and inhumane, just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse.
I didn’t want to talk about this with anyone but i thought the more people know about this crap, the better.

If you want details, check the SandMonkey’s post: http://www.sandmonkey.org/2010/06/13/on-khaled-said/

PS: The picture is seriously disturbing.

Moftasa posted this article on how he wrote a linux script that downloads all the obituaries published in Al Ahram newspaper between 2002 and 2008, finds all the names of people with Police titles then finds the family relations between them!

The script does the following:

  • The first step is to convert the HTML files downloaded by curl into one giant text file.
  • Then to move each separate obituary into a line of it’s own.
  • Extract officer names sandwiched between rank and place of work into a separate text file.
  • Search for the names of each officer through each obituary, family links between different officers can be discovered.
  • The output is in GraphViz .dot format.
  • This is as cool as the Oracle Of Bacon

Chapeau to Moftasa, it’s a brialliant idea to dig this kind of information using the modern technology :)
